The Lumsden Monarchs improved their record to 2-8 after putting together a win last night against the visiting Semans Wheatkings. The Monarchs blew a few 2 goal leads and tried to lose the game, but ultimately prevailed 7-6.
The win gives the Monarchs back-to-back wins after starting the season a dismal 0-8. Merry Christmas fellas.
Next Monarch action goes next Saturday in Bethune.

Christmas comes early for the Monarchs
An 8-1 victory over the first place Raymore Rockets was just what the doctor ordered for a team that looked totally disjointed on the weekend. Some of the Monarch goal scorers include (sorry if I miss some) Jesse Matlock (2), Mike Moran, Jeff Lawson, Casey Lawford, and Tom Kuntz. The Miami Dolphin curse has been lifted.
P.S. A post game video interview with Matt McGeough will be posted as soon as I can figure out how to convert cell phone video to a file I can actually use.

Don't Miss Another Lumsden Monarch Blog Post
I know you all hate having to check in to see when I've updated the blog. So I made the whole process a whole lot easier. Just enter your email address in the box in the side column and you'll automatically receive updates to this blog by email.
It's completely anonymous and you'll only receive emails at most once a day (but I usually don't post that much). The email will show up between 11am and 1pm on the day I update the blog.

Sometimes you just need a look at the lighter side
Monarchs goaltender Jeremy Kwasny remarked on the weekend that the Monarchs are becoming the equivalent of the Miami Dolphins of the HHL.
The good news for the Monarchs? Miami won on Sunday so things are looking up!

Same old story
Yet another unsuccessful weekend for the Lumsden Monarchs hockey club. Brutal losses to Avonlea and Cupar have left a lot of people shaking their heads. The fellas will try to pick up their first win of the campaign Tuesday in Lumsden when Ryan Rankin and the Raymore Rockets come to town. Friday night is the last game before the Christmas break at home versus Semans.

Monarchs Lose Weekend Set
The Lumsden Monarchs were dealt a 5-2 loss on home ice Friday night by the visiting Bethune Bulldogs in the first installment of the Mayor's Cup.
Saturday, the Narch's headed up the #6 to take on the Marlins on Teddy Bear Toss Night in Southey. It looked for a while that recent Monarch pick up Jesse Matlock's second goal of the weekend would stand as the only marker in the game. Lumsden took a 1-0 lead into the third period, but with about 14 minutes remaining, Southey took advantage of a 5 on 3 powerplay and sent the stuffed animals onto the ice. Scott Sauer scored the game winner shortly there after with a wrister top bunk from the right circle.
Jeremy Kwasny played stellar in net all night, with the Monarchs finally finding the brand of hockey they need to play consistently to be successful. Look for good things to come.

Welcome to the Lumsden Monarchs Blog
Welcome all! This blog will become THE place to keep up with everything involving the Lumsden Monarch Hockey Club.
My name is Sean Stefan, #17 with the Lumsden Monarchs and I'll be providing the online commentary for the team (can't score goals so I might as well contribute somehow). Sometimes it isn't fun writing about loss after loss, so hopefully we'll start to turn things around soon.
The year has started off slowly, but that is to be expected with the amount of new faces we have on the squad this year. But now has to be the time to start competing a little better.
Anyway, put a bookmark on this site. I'll try to keep it updated with as much fresh stuff as possible. I just got a fancy new phone that's supposed to be able to take video - so if it works look for post game interview clips. For all you fans out there, if you've got a camera phone don't be scared to snap a few pictures and send them to me. I'll post them up here for all the crazy Monarch fans to see.
We welcome your comments, which you can add to each post. Just keep 'em clean or I'll have to spend all my spare time deleting your vulgarities.
Taker easy,
Stef
